What I Wore: Active Edition

Sports Bra: Forever 21; Shoes: Under Armour; Top:Run United Philippine Marathon Official Singlet; Shorts: Forever 21

If you are a reader of my other blog, you may know that I joined Run United Philippines Marathon 2015 last October 04. Running a half-marathon is not as easy breezy as you may think. You have to endure leg pain and all that sort. But no worries, because the fulfillment it gives after accomplishing the race is beyond words and it will always be! Above photo shows what I wore during the big day.

Wearing a comfortable outfit during activities like this has always been a must. Every runner must wear something that gives full support without of course compromising comfort to avoid extra pain and such. With that, here are my few quick tips to share when choosing a running outfit:

1. I know how excited you are to wear your brand new running shoes for the marathon, but please make sure to use it first at least 3 times before wearing it on a long distance run. You don’t want to suffer any foot pain or the like while you’re on the road beating your PR, do you?
2. For girls, wear a sports bra that offers maximum support. This is very important because it helps improve running form, and even helps to avoid injury.
3. Be fashionable but don’t compromise your comfort. Wear only the clothes that fits you best, not too tight and not too loose.
4. As you can see, I didn’t wear any running belts, hydration belt or GPS watch. I don’t advise you to do the same, but if you don’t feel like wearing it (like me), just refrain from wearing so. You can try to wear them first during your training so you can get used to it before the run day. This may add discomfort, in a way, too.
5. Tie your hair. I know some girls prefer to have their hair lay down while running, but my forever suggestion will be, to keep your hair in tact. You don’t want to get distracted every now and then whenever your hair gets on your face, and it looks more neat especially because we are expecting a serious sweat!

Why Women Should Not Wear High Heels All the Time

A lot of women like to wear high heels not only because they’re stylish but also because they obviously add several inches to your height and that’s a good thing especially if you’re petite. Furthermore, wearing one makes a woman look sexier and more confident. Stilettos are the gold standard in women’s footwear for almost any occasion but high heels are oftentimes uncomfortable and can cause major problems for your feet and ultimately your budget because let’s face it, they’re quite addicting. The more you wear them, the more you want to buy another pair. Before you know it, you already have a closet full of shoes.

Having joint pain is one danger of wearing high heels. It lacks any notable shock absorption and stops the foot from naturally rotating as you walk. As a result, the knee absorbs the pressure of each step and therefore lead to acute joint pain. Experiencing lower back pain is another discomfort a woman feels when wearing high heels because it causes your pelvis to push forward as you stand or walk. Thus, immense pressure is placed on the lower back. A sprained ankle isn’t uncommon either since it’s quite hard to perfectly balance especially in stilettos. Over time, you’ll also develop callouses.

If you’re wearing high heels for the first time, start off with wearing lower heels rather than high heels and never wear heels that’re too tight. But if you’re tired of those stylish yet uncomfortable footwear, high quality, affordable, and comfortable sandals and flip flops are the way to go. There’re many different styles available at Reef, the environmentally conscious brand that takes comfortability to a whole new level. Shoppers will have a field day browsing their wide array of stylish sandals and flip flops for men and women. Their women’s sandals are categorized into Classics, Leather, Rubber, Athletic sandals, and Fashion. I have my eye on a couple of them such as the reef Gypsy Love which has a multicolored woven strap with ultra soft terry cloth lining, soft suede leather footbed with anatomical arch support, rubber sponge outsole for flexibility, and durable rubber outsole with traction.

I also like the Miss J-Bay which has 51% post-industrial recycled triple density Eva footbed with anatomical arch support, ISA L.I.T.E (Low Impact To The Environment) full grain padded leather strap, ISA L.I.T.E. leather deck, and 25% recycled rubber outsole with icon tulip logo. This is ideal for casual trips to the mall. The other one that I would like to have is the reef Creamy Leather which is made of handmade premium leather from Brazil. It has full grain leather footbed with anatomical arch support, ultra soft full grain leather strap with knot detail, and durable rubber outsole. These sandals are really value for your money since you’ll wear them for a very long time.

Online Shopping On A Lucky Day

It’s nothing unusual for everybody to see me in front of my laptop on my rest days. So let’s count this day to be one of those days. I was on my usual lazy day position while I remembered something that made me ecstatic, like really really ecstatic! I got up on bed and browse one of the shopping websites I partnered with, two years ago. I jumped with joy as I opened my account, seeing the remaining credits I had in there. Next thing I knew I was already browsing their sale collection! You see, I didn’t have any plans to go shopping today but just my luck, I did!

I was able to buy four items from the remaining credits I had and only paid around $8 for the shipping fee. I got the items on a discounted price. That’s 55% off, what a steal! Great way to start my October isn’t? I bought Black Snakeskin Pattern Flats, Elastic Waist Geometric Print A-Line Skirt, Grey Round Neck Long Sleeve Floral Sweatshirt and Spaghetti Strap Pink Cami Top. It might take another 7-15 days before I receive it, and I can’t wait! I’ll definitely create a separate blog post for that, stay tuned!
